Probably the most fun thing about watching a series with characters you really love is coming up with theories about them. Naturally I have some about this series as well.
Fluttershy- An only child, her parents had high expectations of her. Both are pegasi, her father is a weather pony, and a good friend of Rainbow Dash's parents. Her mother was born with a defective wing, and was never able to fly. As a result, she's never left Cloudsdale, and is a very fragile pony, reclusive and distrustful of other ponies. She tends to push Fluttershy due to a desire for her experience all the things she never could. Fluttershy felt very pressured as a foal, and tried to please her parents, but when it came to flying, she just couldn't seem to catch up, which frustrated her a lot.
Rainbow Dash- The youngest of a big loud family. Was always teased and looked down on by older siblings, so she feels the need to prove that she's just as good as them. Overall, they have a nice friendly, albeit competitive relationship with one another.
Applejack- Went to a private school in Manehatten. Tried really hard to fit in, but she always felt out of place and like she was lying to everyone about her true self. Became good friends with a very unique pony, who is now a smale time actor in the world of theater. Played on the school polo team and made some friends there as well.
Pinkie Pie is bipolar.
And that's pretty much all I've got for now.
